The test checks whether the iron concentration in the blood is normal. It also detects further deficiencies in the blood. Serum Ferritin and Transferrin Saturation is used to give an idea regarding the iron saturation. There are mainly two reasons for conducting this test. The first is to diagnose iron deficiency in the body. The second reason for conducting the same is to predict an erythropoietic response towards iron supplements.
